C. C. Bergius

C. C. Bergius (Egon Maria Zimmer) was born in Buehr (Westphalia) in 1910. His first book was about the life of the Mongol prince Genghis Khan (1951). Travelling to Malaysia, Japan, China, Korea and Vietnam inspired the author to write numerous great novels such as Der Fälscher and Heißer Sand which were translated into 19 languages and achieved a total international circulation of over 15 million copies. The great German storyteller was a passionate aviator and writer, was a flying instructor, weather pilot and airline captain before he began his writing career after the Second World War. C. C. Bergius died on 22 March 1996 in Vaduz (Liechtenstein).
