A. E. Johann
Born in Bromberg (now in Poland) in 1901 A. E. Johann studied theology, geography and sociology in Berlin. From one day to the next, he threw away his career as an accountant and auditor to move to Canada as an agrarian worker. He sent his first travel reports to the Vossische Zeitung, then later became a special correspondent for the Ullstein publishing house. He documented his extended travel to areas such as Siberia, Japan, China, Mexico and Florida in book form. With nearly 100 books and 30 million copies in circulation, A. E. Johann is considered one of the most reputable post-World War II German travel writers.
