Julia Dessalles grew up in a creative environment between the wildly romantic Mediterranean island of Corsica and Baden-Württemberg. Making up stories, drawing and making music were already part of her childhood. Although the fine arts were always close to her heart, she studied medicine in Germany and France. After graduating as Doctoris medicinae, she worked in the paediatric clinic, focusing on premature and newborn babies, as well as in the paediatric intensive care unit. With the birth of her two children, her life focus shifted to the family. Since then, she has devoted herself full-time to her career as an author, illustrator and rock musician. With her German-French family and an Icelandic horse, she currently lives in Saarland on the French border and regularly returns to her heart's home in Corsica.
