Stefan Lukschy

Stefan Lukschy was born in Berlin and grew up in Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. He comes from a family of artists. His mother was a painter, stage designer and interior designer, his father a film and theatre actor and director.
During his school years, he studied piano and conducting. At the same time, he developed an interest in literature, photography and film. After studying German language and literature, journalism, philosophy and musicology, he began studying directing at the dffb (German Film and Television Academy Berlin) in 1972.
He directed his first feature film in 1976 with his graduation project "Ties for Olympia".
His collaboration with Loriot began while he was still a student in 1975. Initially as assistant director and editor, then also as dramaturge and co-director. He later edited the DVD editions of Loriot's work ("The Complete Television Edition" in 2007 and "Loriot and the Music" in 2010). A close friendship grew out of the decades-long collaboration until Loriot's death in 2011. In 2011, he made the documentary film "Professor Loriot" about Loriot as an acting teacher. Stefan Lukschy wrote the bestseller "Der Glückliche schlägt keine Hunde - ein Loriot-Porträt" (2013, Aufbau-Verlag) about their collaboration and lifelong friendship.
Since 1976, he has realised numerous TV films, TV series and cinema films as a screenwriter and director
Lukschy is a member of the "German Film Academy" The Colour of the Stars was written with co-author Curtis Briggs and is his first novel. He is currently working on his second novel.
