Charlotte Roth
Charlotte Roth was born in Berlin in 1965 and grew up there. She studied German language and literature and works as a freelance writer and editor. Her debut novel, Als wir unsterblich waren (When We Were Immortal), was a bestseller, followed by numerous other novels about the fates of women against the backdrop of German history.
Charlotte Roth would have liked to have become a film director. Instead, she sits at her desk and mends films made out of words by translating, editing and fantasising. She lives in the one and only London with her happily growing family, travels the world, maintains second homes in the Bay of Naples and at the British Film Institute, and keeps a suitcase in her native Berlin.
Charlotte Roth and Claudia Ley are the pseudonyms of the bestselling author Charlotte Lyne.
